When Kindness 'Rings' True

In Avon Schools, there's no such thing as a support staff member who is just a cafeteria worker, just a custodian, just an aide, or just a secretary. Each employee plays an important role in helping our school corporation remain a place where ALL belong, learn, and grow.

Just ask Avon High School student Graham Howard if his bus driver Kat Blake-Shah is just a bus driver. As it turns out, she's part-time detective and all heart.

"Graham lost his brand-new class ring on the bus Tuesday," wrote Transportation Director Kevin Gray. "Kat, along with her lead Shirley Brinkman, viewed the [recorded] video and determined what happened to the ring." Gray continued, "Kat was not going to be on the bus this afternoon, but she knew how much this ring meant to Graham, and she didn't want him to have to worry about it any longer than necessary. We arranged for her to meet him at the high school so she could give it to him personally. He was over-the-moon excited and Kat was glad she could assist."
