Proof of Residency Guide
Your child has the right to attend school in the boundary in which you, the parent/guardian, reside. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide proper and accurate documentation to the school to prove residency. The school shall have the right to verify any information that is provided to them.
Enrollment is not final until you complete the residency portion of registration. These documents should be uploaded during online registration. If you have any questions, please contact the registrar at your child's school for additional support.
Proof of residency is required. Two original items of verification from the items listed below must be presented:
- Current utility bills (electric, water, sewer, cable, land-line phone, trash) with parent/guardian name and Avon address listed. (Can be electronic or received through the mail and dated within the last 30 days.)
- Current mortgage statement (dated within the last 30 days), signed Real Estate closing documents signed by both parties (for new home within the last 30 days), property tax bill (current year).
- Rental agreement from an established apartment/mobile home office with contact name and phone number signed by both parties, with parent/guardian name and Avon address listed along with rental payment receipt (dated within the last 30 days).
- Homeowners insurance policy/statement (dated within last 30 days).
- Driver’s license and/or pay stubs are not acceptable as proof of residency.
In addition, a copy of a picture ID (driver’s license, IN issued ID card, passport, military ID) is needed.
If you should have any questions, please contact the main office of your child’s school or call the Administration Center at (317) 544-6000 to speak with Barb or Brianna.
