ParentSquare - Your Link to Avon Schools

ParentSquare is your primary communication link with Avon Schools. Whenever there is timely and important news or updates, you can expect to hear it first through ParentSquare. 

And, the best way to interact with ParentSquare is through the mobile app. It's available in the App Store and Google Play.

Teams for Virtual Meetings

Microsoft Teams is the virtual meeting tool for Avon Schools. It works like Zoom or Google Meet. You may receive a meeting invite in ParentSquare or your email. You do not have to create an account or sign in to anything. 

How to Join on a Mobile Device

You must install the Microsoft Teams app to join a meeting on any mobile device.  There are two ways to join the meeting. 

• Option 1: Join with Link
  • Tap the join link you received from Avon staff.
  • This will open the Microsoft Teams app or prompt you to download it if not installed.
• Option 2: Join with Meeting ID
  • Open the Microsoft Teams app on your phone.
  • Tap 'Join meeting with an ID' then enter the Meeting ID and Passcode you received. 

You can choose to 'Join as Guest' without signing in or creating an account. Enter your name as you want it to display in the meeting. After joining, you may have to wait to be admitted to the meeting. If prompted, allow permissions for the app to use your microphone and camera. 

How to Join on a Computer

Using either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browser, click the meeting join link you received, or enter the Meeting ID and Passcode at microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/join-a-meeting.  If your computer does not have Microsoft Teams installed, choose to 'Continue on this browser.' You do not need to install the app. 

You can choose to 'Join as Guest' without signing in or creating an account. Enter your name as you want it to display in the meeting.  After joining, you may have to wait to be admitted to the meeting. If prompted, allow permissions for the app to use your microphone and camera. 

PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, and detailed assignment descriptions. PowerSchool’s Parent/Student Portal provides single sign-on access for the parent. Instructions for creating your account or logging into your existing account are below.

Existing Accounts

If you previously had a PowerSchool Parent Account, log in with your same credentials.  If you’ve forgotten your username or password, click on the 'Forgot Username or Password?' link to recover that information.  Recovery emails may take a few hours to arrive.  If this does not work, please contact your student's school for further support.

Once logged in, students will show as tabs at the top of the page. 

If you are missing a student, please contact your school to have them connected to your existing account.

New Accounts

If you do not yet have a PowerSchool Parent account, click on the 'Forgot Username or Password?' link and retrieve that info using your full email as the username.  You must use the email address you provided during registration. Recovery emails may take a few hours to arrive.  If this does not work, please contact your student's school for further support.

Viewing Assignment Grades

To see individual assignment scores, first click the Grades and Attendance icon. If you click on the grade listed for the subject (blue link), it will take you to a page listing the individual assignments and scores which make up that grade.

Student Access to PowerSchool

An account is automatically generated for students in grades 5-12. Their login is as follows:

• username: 8-digit student ID (e.g. 12345678)
• password: network password (same as used to log in to school computer)

Schoology is an online learning management system that allows teachers to create and share course material with students and parents. Teachers can share content, assign homework (collaborate on homework), give quizzes/tests, and more.
 
How do students access Schoology?

Students log in to Schoology at avon.schoology.com with their school email for username (student ID@students.avon-schools.org) and their network password (school-provided for grades K-4; self-created for grades 5-12). 

How do I create a Schoology Parent account?

With a Schoology Parent account, parents get view-only access to see their student's courses, groups, announcements, upcoming homework, calendar, and submitted assignments. 

Register for Parent Schoology Account

1. On a web browser (like Chrome or Safari), go to app.schoology.com/register and select 'Parent.' 
   • If you already have a Schoology Parent account, see the below steps to add a child.
2. Enter the Access Code provided by your student's teacher/school office. 
   • Access Codes may be distributed by teachers at the beginning of the school year and are required to create a parent account. 
   • If you haven't received an Access Code, contact your student's school office.
3. Complete the registration by providing an email address and setting a password. 
   • It is recommended to use an email address instead of a username when creating your account.
4. Sign in at app.schoology.com.
5. If asked, always choose to sign in with 'My Account' and not the 'Sign in with my school' option.
6. Once signed in, click your profile/name icon in the top corner and select your student's name to view their Schoology information. If viewing as yourself, you will not see any of their courses. 

How do I add another child to my existing Schoology Parent account?

Once you have created a Schoology Parent account with the Access Code for one child, you can link additional children with their unique Access Codes.

1. On a web browser (like Chrome or Safari), sign in to your account at app.schoology.com.
2. Click the profile/name icon in the top corner and select the '+ Add Child' button. 
3. Enter the Access Code for the child (obtained from their teacher/school office).

Families may register with the Titan Family Portal to monitor lunch accounts and complete free and reduced applications. To create a new account,  visit the LINQ Connect website. For new accounts, make sure to have your student ID available when signing up for access and be aware that there is a service fee of $2.60 per transaction. Once an account is established, meal and purchase history can be viewed and account controls can be set to send reminders of low balances and automatically add funds.

Avon's School Code for the Mobile App

Versatrans My Stop allows parents to track their students’ bus location and arrival times as well as receive notifications on delays or other pertinent information. It is an application that can be downloaded on the Apple or Android Store on your smartphone.

Step 1: Downloading the Versatrans My Stop App

• Type “Versatrans My Stop” into the search field in the App Store (for Apple users) or Play Store (for Android Users)
• Select Versatrans My Stop and download
• After downloading My Stop navigate to the application and tap on it to open it

Step 2: Logging In
Your username is your student ID number and the password is your child's birthdate (e.g., MMDDYYYY). Contact Transportation if you need assistance.

Step 3: Navigating the Map Page

• After logging in you will arrive at the Map section. Here you will see your student’s bus location and the estimated time of arrival.
• If you have multiple students riding buses on this screen there is an arrow with a dropdown menu to switch between your students.
• Remember if the bus is not on route you will not able to see its location.
