     Grades K – 4 and 9-11

    2017-18 Open Enrollment is now closed 

    Avon Community School Corporation is excited to welcome over 55 non-resident enrollment students for the 2017-2018 school year.   There is still some space available and we are happy to extend the registration deadline to June 2, 2017. Students in grades K-4 and 9-11 are eligible through this application process. Completed applications may be submitted to the Administration Center at 7203 East US Highway 36, Avon, Indiana 46123 Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., faxed to (317) 544-6001, or emailed to bjmarcotte@avon-schools.org. Families considering this option must provide transportation to and from school daily and pay all school related fees (textbook fees, lunches, etc.).
    Per Indiana Law, school corporations must publicize the maximum number of students being accepted by grade level. Should the number of applications exceed the number of spaces, the Corporation is required to hold a lottery in a public meeting. If needed, the May 8th School Board meeting will be utilized for this purpose. The number of students per grade level are as follows: 

    Kindergarten: 25  
    First Grade: 50   Ninth Grade:  30
     Second Grade:  45 Tenth Grade:  20 
    Third Grade:  20  Eleventh Grade:  FULL
     Fourth Grade:  35  

    Per Indiana Code, students with the following disciplinary actions during the prior 12 months of school enrollment will be denied through this process. Specific violations include suspension or expulsion for any of the following reasons:

     

    • Possessing a firearm, deadly weapon or destructive device
    • Causing a physical injury to a student, school employee or visitor to the school
    • Violating a drug or alcohol rule
    • Suspended or expelled for more than 10 school days

     

    Once approved, students may remain in Avon Schools until withdrawn by a parent or guardian. Once withdrawn, a student must complete the application process again to be considered for future enrollment.

    Approved students with siblings in grades 5-8 and 12 will be allowed to enroll as long as they meet the same discipline record requirements permitted by law.
    All families will be notified of their application status by Friday, May 12, 2017. Families with accepted students in grades K-8 will be notified of specific building assignments no later than Wednesday, May 31, 2017. The majority of K-4 students will be placed at Maple, Pine Tree and White Oak Elementary schools. Instructions for completing Avon Schools official enrollment process will be given at that time.
